At The Dollhouse Project, we give you the freedom of expression and the support, strength, and services you need to excel in life, defy odds, conquer fears, and live with independence. Keeping the statistics in consideration, it can’t be denied that injustice, discrimination, and inequality prevails against the LGBTQ youth and trans women of color. It needs to stop and end here. And this is precisely why we have founded The Dollhouse Project.

The Reality of Life—It Needs to Stop!

We believe that trans women of color and LGBTQ youth have sacrificed a lot across various categories such as education, family life, employment, health, housing, and interactions with the criminal justice system.

Studies show that:

  • 1 in ten individual recognized as trans was reported to be attacked by their family because of their gender identity

  • 8 percent of them were forced to leave their homes because they are trans
  • In school, 54 percent of LGBTQ youth were verbally abused, 24 percent physically attacked, and 13 percent sexually assaulted
  • The unemployment rate in the LGBTQ community was 15 percent three times higher than the unemployment rate in the US population.
